NestFinder App Illustrations

I created beautiful yet also functional illustrations meant to circumvent language and enliven the user’s experience. NestFinder bridges systemic gaps in the transition for immigrants into existing similar cultural communities in Canada.

Our Users Need Clarity & Reassurance

I began by translating the user needs into visual principles to guide the illustrations. Being a multilingual app for prospective newcomers to Canada, the illustrations must communicate information without the need for a singular language. The user will return to these images frequently from first joining the app to settling into their new community, thus the illustrations must be comforting while not monotonous.

Creating Visual Oases For The Entire User Journey

The user is welcomed by the "story book" motif, evoking the sense that a story is contained within. Each composition is simple but invites them to take a closer look and find each is filled with many illustrative details. Gradients simulate depth, tactile grain overlays bring them to life, and colour arrangements wash the scenes in a nostalgic golden hour.
